Get up close and personal with 180+ rescued draft horses!
Our volunteer program is very hands-on and previous horse experience isn’t required! We’ll teach you everything you need to know about working on the farm and caring for over 180 horses.
Our volunteers play a huge role in helping us care for our large herd of rescued horses.
On a typical day, you will be doing real farm work such as feeding, haying, mucking stalls, cleaning, turning in and out, watering, bathing and grooming horses.
Our volunteers are some of the toughest around and we are truly grateful for their dedication to our horse and our mission!

Continuing Education Program
Volunteers who complete 12+ hours per month are eligible to sign up for our continuing education program. This program expands on your initial training and covers more in depth horse care topics and handling skills.
We’ve got plenty of additional opportunities for volunteers who are interested in expanding their knowledge about horses, horse care, and sharing our mission.
Events
Help represent Gentle Giants at numerous events, sharing our mission and introducing our Ambassador horses to the public!
We participate in the Horse World Expo, the Annapolis Pride Parade, the Lisbon Christmas Parade, and many county fairs every year! We also invite the public to the farm for several on site events, including our Thundering Hooves 5k, Bluegrass Under the Stars Concerts, and our Fall Festival.
Even a small donation can be the difference between life and death for a kind and gentle horse!
